Loss 2-3
Taft 2 Loomis 3 Set 1 18-25 Loss Set 2 27-25 Won Set 3 20-25 Loss Set 4 25-23 Won Set 5 12-15 Loss Taft Record 7-1 We battled to the very end and just came up a few points short against a strong hitting, well-balanced Loomis team. Today a lot was on the line, we knew that Loomis had a great record and that this match could be a difference maker in deciding a Founder's league champion, but we came prepared to give it our all. I am very proud of the girls for the way they fiercely fought for points. Taft did not go down easy! It was our first match of the season without our setter and with a different lineup we had to shuffle our front line attackers. All our other players rallied around Osi Bialunska who stepped in to run the floor. That is what great teams do and if we had a few breaks here and a few breaks there the outcome may have been different. Needles to say, we learned important lessons, we pushed ourselves, and we want to keep getting better. Highlights include: Taft fans that keep cheering us on to the bitter end. Their support is much appreciated. Our team was grateful to the strong serving of Addie Delafield and Sarah Katz. Each of these two players scored 21 points. Right behind them was Zoe Kemper who tallied 15 while Olivia Wivestad and Osi Bialunska each added 14. Avery Comish contributed 12 and Mason Delafield had 3. Our attack was lead by Addie and Finley Delafield. The sisters each had 11 kills and younger sister Mason added 4 kills. Kayla Robinson had 5 kills and she was supported by fine play at the net by Posey Durling. It was exciting and the crowds were kept on the edge of their seats! GO BIG RED!
