Win 2-0
The Rhinos got back on the winning track on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Canterbury School. Taft’s offense came out strong and generated several scoring opportunities in the first few minutes of play. A string of corners and a couple defensive saves from the visiting team; Taft just couldn’t find the back of the net. Canterbury’s goal keeper was able to hold off the attack, both teams went into the half scoreless. Just over six minutes into the second half and Eva Baurmeister sent a cross ball to Liv Santini who was able to slip it into the left corner of the net. Taft’s second goal started with a feed from Eva Baurmeister in the midfield who connected with Abigail Hano at the top of the circle. Hano redirected the ball to Caeley Smith who lifted it over Canterbury’s keeper into the back of the net. With ten minutes remaining in the game, Taft never let up the offensive pressure and maintained confidence and poise in the backfield from several different rotations of defenders—Corinna Dorr, Emma Hentemann, Clara Baurmeister, Chase Melchionni, Libby Dolan, and Kate Loughlin. Jenna Guglielmi tallied her second shutout of the season in net. Next up, the Rhinos will host Gunnery on Wednesday.
