Loss 2-3
The Rhinos came up on the short end this afternoon at Williston-Northampton. After a slow start, Taft fought hard in the second but just couldn’t maintain the lead. Taft was awarded a penalty corner with less than a minute to play in the first half, as time expired the officials called a stoppage of play, realizing they made a mistake they called to replay the corner. An initial shot from Eva Baurmeister at the top was deflected high off of a defender’s stick, Abigail Hano snatched it out of the air to keep it in play and Liv Santini finished to put Taft up by one at halftime. The home team came out firing in the second half, scoring two goals in the first ten minutes of play to put them ahead by one. Taft answered back midway through the half with a goal from Claudia VIra, assisted by Lily Senich. Williston responded with just under six minutes to play, putting them in the lead again, where they would hold on for the win. Taft never let up offensive pressure, winning a corner with less than a minute to play and a beautiful shot from Liv Santini that went inches wide of the cage. Emma Hentemann played an incredible game in the defensive end and Jenna Guglielmi recorded seventeen saves in net. Taft will host Deerfield on Saturday for Parents’ Day.
