Win 6-0
Playing a home match on its grass field for the first time this season, The Rhinos came out charging, scoring twice in the first ten minutes to jump out to an early lead over visiting Suffield. The first goal came when Sammed Bawa fired a free kick on goal in the third minute. The Suffield goalkeeper did well to make the initial save, but James Donaldson followed up the rebound and stuffed the ball into the net, giving Taft a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Donaldson provided the assist to Aaron Skeene, who made an excellent run behind the back of the Suffield defense and cut the ball inside the far post to double Taft’s advantage. Taft made it 3-0 when Jordan Miller found space on the right side of the field and crossed the ball to Marvin Sibanda inside the Suffield penalty area. Sibanda took a touch around the goalkeeper and calmly pushed the ball into the back of the net. The first half ended without another goal. Suffield started the second half well, but the Taft substitutes yet again gave The Big Red a needed lift. Rex Riefler and KK Baffour had excellent shifts playing in the midfield, and in the 64th minute, Diky Izmirlian put Aaron Skeene in on goal with a well-weighted pass. Skeene was cut down inside the penalty area, and Sibanda stepped up to take the spot kick. Sibanda made no mistake with the opportunity, giving Taft a 4-0 lead. Sammed Bawa added two goals towards the end of the game, the first coming off an outstanding assist from Kharym Florvil and the second coming from an assist by Baffour. Taj Salawu and Ethan Hindle were strong on defense once again, and Shayan Karimi picked up his second shutout of the season. With the shutout, Taft has now played 312 minutes without conceding a goal. The Rhinos will be in for a real test on Wednesday, when they travel to Berkshire for a clash with the undefeated Bears.
