Win 3-0
For the third consecutive year, The Big Red was victorious on Hotchkiss Day! The Rhinos got on the board early when Sammed Bawa squared the ball through the Hotchkiss penalty area in the 2nd minute. Marvin Sibanda ran onto the pass and drilled the ball into the back of the net, igniting a big celebration from the Taft supporters. Taft continued to control the game throughout the first half and doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Marvin Sibanda sent a free kick towards the back post. Zayn Daniels headed the ball back towards the Hotchkiss goal, and Taj Salawu muscled it across the goal line to make the score 2-0. Three minutes later, James Donaldson won a tackle at midfield and found Aaron Skeene with a nice pass. Skeene pulled the ball onto his left foot and blasted a thirty yard screamer off the inside of the post and into the goal, giving The Big Red a three-goal lead. Both teams battled hard in the second half, but neither Taft nor Hotchkiss could find another goal. Taft got outstanding contributions from a number of different players, and once again, Shayan Karimi was solid in goal, earning another shutout. When the final whistle blew, the Taft fans stormed the field in celebration as The Rhinos completed the regular season with an impressive 13-2-2 record. Taft finished as the Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WNEPSSA) Class A Runners-Up and earned the #4 seed in the upcoming New England Tournament. On Wednesday, Taft will host Choate in the quarter-final round.
