Win 7-0
Watertown, CT – Taft added another victory to the season, this time winning 7-0 against a visiting Salisbury squad. The Rhinos struck first with an early goal in the 4th minute, as Mayan Ewert ’20 found the net following a wonderful long pass by C.J. D’Virgilio ’20. Tate Phillips ’21 added to the tally after a rebound in the box, putting the Rhinos up 2-0 in the 10th minute. Despite the score, Taft continued to push forward and earned a penalty in the 16th minute. Credit to the Salisbury stopper for making the PK save. Undeterred, Marwan ElBorolossy ’21 added Taft’s third with a long-range shot that surprised the Salisbury defense, its GK, and most of Marwan’s teammates. Taft scored yet again in the 19th minute after D’Virgilio once again dished Mayan Ewert a lovely pass to put the Rhinos up 4-0. In one of the finest shots of the game, Devin Johnson ’20 scored from twenty yards out after an assist by Andrew Namkoong ’20 in the 32nd minute. The second half continued to see Taft pressing the offense. In the 80th minute, after a beautiful counterattack, Mayan Ewert provided Nixon Jennings ’22 a brilliant assist that ended in the sixth goal of the match. A minute later, Edvin Tran Hoac ’20 scored a curler of a shot in the bottom left corner to add the seventh and final goal of the match. Storm clouds willing, Taft will next play Kent this Saturday away.
