The Taft Boys thirds team welcomed the Pride of Trinity Pawling today for our lone match of the year due to an earlier rain out. The whistle blew and the match started and Taft started scoring. • Stephen Mayer to Jeff Ricciardelli in the seventh minute, a lovely through ball lefty to lefty. • Stephen to Jeff out on the left wing and then a long cross to the far post where Tucker Mullen sent in a lovely header for a Jig gift certificate in the 17th minute. • Joe Dayton to Quinn Hedges to Chris Preziotti who struck a lovely shot off of the inside of the far post in the 26th minute. • Quinn to Prezi in the 33rd minute, a nice one-two at the top of the box and a low shot that beat the T-P ‘keeper. • Jessie Sarfo Brew floated in a free kick from about 28 yards out in the 39th minute to finish the scoring in the first half with Taft ahead five nil • Taft came out strong in the second half and Tom Ricciardelli beat the T-P ‘keeper near post and low for Taft’s sixth goal of the match in the 42nd minute. • Jeff Ricciardelli scored again in the 45th minute as he buried a low shot off a rebound off of the crossbar. • Tucker Mullen scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute as he carried the ball through the T-P box for an easy tap in. • T-P tallied a goal on a very nice counter attack after a Taft miss on a corner kick in the 54th minute. • Jack Nogales tallied a goal in the 56th minute off of a lovely corner by Jeff, a one timer on a tough ball directly out of the air. • T-P scored again in the 63rd minute as Taft was not quick to recover after a scoring chance. • Jeff scored again in the 64th minute by taking the kickoff straight down field through the T-P defense and put the ball past the ‘keeper. • Charles Weld then scored his first goal of the year in the 72nd minute, a nice mid-range shot from about 16 yards out. • Jack then sent in a lovely corner to Joe Dayton for a one-timer goal in the 79th minute to finish the scoring with Taft ahead twelve to two. Two practices left then a rematch against our big rival from up north Hotchkiss. We will practice hard and ready to go Saturday afternoon at 130PM. We hope to see you there!
