Loss 2-3
Taft hosted Greenwich looking to build on a well-played game the previous Saturday. Unfortunately, too many gaps in attention led to opportunities the visitors would capitalize on in the first stage of the game. While the Big Red pinned Greenwich in their defensive half for much of the second half, they could not find a result on the day. Captain Emilee Adami ’19 would lead off the scoring from a great effort. Claudia Torres ’19 collected a GA shot and through the ball to Patience Kum ’21. Kum would turn in the center of the field and play a streaking Adami on the wing. Adami ran onto the ball, cut off her defender, dribbled the goalie and found the open net to put Taft up 1-0. 7 minutes later, Taft would turnover the ball in the center of the field and GA would play direct. The opportunity would be played out for a corner and the visitors would not waste the opportunity. The in-swinger would be flicked into the net on a front post run to tie the game at 1-1. GA would add a second before half and score right after halftime to carry a 3-1 lead. It was at that goal that seemed to awaken the Big Red. Taft stormed up the field and had numerous opportunities to trim the lead to one. Kum would add a goal of her own off a set piece when Amanda Graziano ’21 drew a free kick from about 23 yards. Kum would put it up and over the wall, past the GA keeper to put the score at 2-3. Unfortunately Taft would not find an equalizer and drop its first game at home. The Rhinos will look to get back to winning when they host Hopkins on Saturday.
