TAFT 3 Deerfield O Taft 15-1 Record Set 1 25-21 Win Set 2 26-24 Win Set 3 25-18 Win What a terrific day of volleyball for both players and fans. Taft traveled to Deerfield and walked into a beautiful, three week old athletic complex. Deerfield's new volleyball facility and the fact that it was their "Senior" game created much excitement. Taft came out fast and took the first set behind the strong serving of Olivia Wivestad. Olivia had a total of 13 service points, but 6 of those were earned in the first set. Osi Bialunska and Anna Csigirinszkij added another 15 service points each and Addie Delafield scored 14. Anna Csigirinszkij in the deciding set scored 7 of her 15 points and Addie Delafield divided her big serving games between Set 1 and Set 3. In each of those sets, she chipped in 6 points and was on the serving line on match point! Other strong servers were Zoe Kemper and Sarah Katz who successfully scored 9 points each. The big difference makers today were our Middle Hitters. Kayla Robinson and Mason Delafield were amazing putting down 10 and 9 kills respectively. Even the official was impressed with their fine, powerful play that earned them some "killer points"! This was a fun, fast pace game with long, exciting rallies. Everyone on the team can take great satisfaction in this win because we have been having great practices where both sides of the net are getting better; therefore, the level of play is getting better just when we need it. The players and coaches are seeing the results of their hard work and dedication. It is hard to believe that we have only one more week of regulation play. On Wednesday Choate will travel to Watertown. We will be ready to do whatever it takes to get another "W"!
