The Darien Ice Cats Tier II team proved to be a good matchup for our second game of the year. Taft was on its heels in the first period, giving up an early and late goal to go down 0-2. The Ice Cats U12 goalie who stepped in for Taft saved us in this period, turning back eleven of their thirteen shots, with several great, in tight saves. After two periods, it was 4-0 Ice Cats, and shots were 25-12, but the Rhinos were beginning to play a more organized game, and offensive chances started to materialize with the end-to-end rushes of defenders Lander, Good, and Pizzitola. In the third period, the line of Lohuis, Long and Hrazdira really got going and threw the puck all around the Ice Cats zone. Lohuis produced three breakaways, and Long and Hrazdira both had great chances--the puck just didn't go in for us. Lander scored first on a deflected shot from the point, and Pizzitola made it 4-2 with a wraparound. Shots on the period were 12-7 for Taft behind great forechecking by Wivestad and Wyman.
