Win 3-0
The Big Red returned to their winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Trinity-Pawling, but the positive result was not an easy one to achieve. Playing at home, Taft enjoyed the majority of the possession throughout the match, but disciplined defending and excellent goalkeeping from the visitors kept the match scoreless through the first half. The Rhinos finally broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Sammed Bawa drove the ball in front of the Trinity-Pawling goal to Nur Adhikarie, who slammed the ball into the back of the net to give Taft the lead. Ten minutes later, James Donaldson, who had a fantastic day for The Big Red, stole the ball in Trinity-Pawling’s end of the field, and, after a few touches, blasted a low shot off the inside of the post and into the goal to double Taft’s lead. In the 70th minute, Sammed Bawa scored for the 64th time in a Taft jersey, breaking Matteo Mangiardi’s ’17 record for career Taft goals. After receiving a pass from freshman Ben Osset, Bawa unleashed a low shot from distance that beat the goalkeeper and gave Taft the 3-0 lead. Brooks Reed earned the shutout for The Big Red, while Jayce Fraser and Nick Kenerson turned in good performances on the defensive end of the field.
