On a lovely Saturday afternoon at Taft, our lads welcomed the boys from Kent down to our campus for a match on our fall Family Day. After two good days of practice, the lads in red played well and soon started to score some goals. Please allow me to use bullets to describe the goals in sequence. In the 8th minute, Michael Nissen sent a lovely chip forward to Ayden Cinel who sent a lot shot past the very good Kent goalkeeper to put Taft ahead one - nil. In the 15th minute, Michael took a throw-in near the mid-line and found Connor Walsh who dribbled right down the middle of the field and put a low shot by the Kent ‘keeper. In the 17th minute, Taft probably took about four or five shots from inside the six-yard box that were rejected by the Kent ‘keeper. This kid was pretty good and fearless, too. In the 19th minute, Taft scored our third goal as Brendan Staines recovered the ball from Kent in their defensive third, passed it to Connor who assisted Michael for his first goal of the match. In the 35th minute, David Ma headed a goal kick forward to Will Henderson who passed the ball to Bizu Horwitz who toed it in for his first goal of the year. First half ends with Taft ahead four - nil. In the 44th minute Aidan Chan (playing in the field) worked hard on the left side and assisted Will Henderson nicely. In the 53rd minute, Aidan sent a long ball forward to Matt Sheinberg who beat the Kent defense and scored a nice goal. In the 55th minute, Shiney sent a lovely low cross to Will who scored with a simple redirection of the shot. In the 61st minute, Connor returned the favor and sent a lovely low cross across for Michael who put out his right foot for a 90 degree redirect and a nice goal. 64th minute, Brendan again down the left side with speed and strength 66th minute, Stephen Mayer to Abdullah Alkazemi, another cross from the left side with Abdullah playing in front of his dad who was here all the way from Vienna, Austria. The game ended with Taft ahead ten nil. Kent played hard and fair and their GK was very, very good. Taft’s defense of Tyme, TJ, Kevyn, Robert, Alex and Bang played well and Ryan Egan kept the ball out of the goal for us. Our next match is this Wednesday 30Oct19 at Choate. See you there!
