Loss 1-3
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Knights from Salisbury traveled down to Watertown to face our lads from Taft. The ball moved around pretty well during the first part of the match until Salisbury earned a breakaway in the 12th minute and put the ball past Taft goalkeeper Aidan Chan and on his birthday, too! Taft fought back pretty hard and earned a corner in the 26th minute. Connor Walsh sent in a lovely ball that David Ma headed off the crossbar. The rebound came back to Abdullah Alkazemi who headed in Taft’s lone goal of the day. Both teams played hard the rest of the way, and the first half ended with the match tied at one. Both teams battled hard during the second half trying to earn that go-ahead goal. Ryan Egan made a couple of good saves and the Salisbury ‘keeper demonstrated good hands and poise, as well. Unfortunately the Taft defense faltered late in the match as a Taft defender committed a penalty in the box. The referee awarded Salisbury a penalty kick which was converted for a two one lead that was stretched to three one as Salisbury scored soon after on the counter attack as Taft brought players forward attempting to draw even. The match ended with Salisbury victorious three one. Kevin Gunawan again had an excellent match for Taft, playing hard in the back for many minutes. Our next match is this Wednesday at home v. Hotchkiss. Wish us luck.
