The Taft Rhinos faced the Kent Lion’s on Parents’ weekend. The home team got to work early in the second half and Clara Ekstein scored the first of the game in the fifth minute off a pass by Katie Gilland. Clara earned the brace seconds later to earn a two goal lead. The Kent Lion’s fought hard but the passing skills of the Rhinos were on display as they weaved in through balls from the midfield anchored by Sadie Frame. Hollen Spain scored her first of the game in the 13th minute assisted by Erin Lonergan. 3 minutes later Muffin Prakittiphoom scored on a pass by Sterling Thompson. Annabel Brawn earned a goal at the 20th minute, followed by Keeley Brooks at the 33rd minute of the half. Just before the end of the half it looked like Macy Chernoff nestled one home but it was signaled offside as the half expired. The team defense was strong and keeper Sarah Elkas was not tested often. She was equal to the task earning her third clean sheet in a row. The defense, anchored by Ellie Perkins and Margo Kahler, was solid and defanged the counter attack of the lions. The second half saw many players moved into different positions. The Rhinos kept the majority of possession and were able to score two more goals to bring the final to 8 nil. Hollen Spain finished her brace on a left footed shot beating the Kent keeper in the 13th minute of the second half. Grace Denious put the icing on the cake scoring a goal in the final minute of play with a strong shot into the side netting. Taft will get ready to face Westminster away on Wednesday. This game may have a near playoff atmosphere as they are the only two remaining undefeated teams on the schedule.
