Rumsey Hall School
Win 3-0
The Rhinos travelled to Rumsey Hall on Saturday afternoon and put together their best performance of the season. They won 3-0 in convincing fashion, and played with the poise and execution of a JV team. With a shortened bench due to Long Weekend, some Rhino players were asked to play in positions that were new to them. Brooke stepped up and played the front row, skying high above the net to disrupt the attack of Rumsey Hall’s hitters; she also collected a couple of kills. Angel played the back row and did a magnificent job passing both on serve receive and on defense. Susannah rejoined the squad and was rock solid in the back row. Nicole was great all match long with her passing, and had one of the highlights of the day: she made a beautiful play on a ball that hit off the ceiling to bump it over the net, finishing off the first set. Angie K was her normal reliable self at setter and from the service line; she had several assists and aces. Kaitlin and Becca played the full rotation and were excellent throughout the contest: their serves were tough all match long, they passed well, and both picked up kills and assists. Angie M was swinging hard in the front row and picked up three great kills. Skylar was serving hard and hitting hard in the front row, racking up five kills and several aces. Mia set the tone for the Rhinos as our first server in all three sets. She was brilliant from the service line and passed very well. The Rhinos had several pass-set-kill plays, and had high energy and communication all match long. They were an incredible 70-76 (92% in) from the service line with an impressive 29 aces. The Rhinos will enjoy their long weekend before squaring up with rival Hotchkiss on Wednesday.
