The cross-country squads traveled to Andover today for the New England Division I Championships. Facing the best teams in New England, we knew our team results would not be overly impressive, but we could still do good jobs as individuals. Leading us, as he has all season, Oliver Dreyfuss crossed the line in 18:06 for 48th place. Right behind him was Ali Griswold, who also registered an 18:06. Ten seconds behind was Rory McNamara who took 60th place. Jude Celebi finished just two seconds ahead of Huck Griswold in 18:39 as the boys placed 74th and 77th to give the team 308 points for 12th place among the 15 teams. Yura Stasiuk (18:53 and 81st place) and Will Roberts (19:21 and 90th place) completed the varsity finishers. The second half of the season, we focused on pack running and trying to stay close to each. Last week, at the Founders Championship, our top five placed within 47 seconds of each other. Today we were even closer at a spread of just 35 seconds. It was a great way to finish the season! On the JV side of things, Tate Celebi led us with a 27th place finish in 19:09. Then came our pack of Nate Dexter, 48th place in 19:46, Rafe Van Wegenen, 50th place in 19:49, and Nick Shaker, 52th place in 19:52. Our final scorer was Jin Young Min, whose time of 20:20 was good enough for 69th place. These results gave the JV 248 points and a 10th place finish. Rounding out the JV were Serafym Rybachkivskyi (20:39 for 80th place), Trevor Stellmach (20:50 for 84th place), and Augi Booth, who ran injured to finish in 23:03 to take 142nd place. Tate Rafe, Nick, and Jin all set PRs today with a combined improvement of 76 seconds over the previous fastest times!
