Win 22-38
Against a strong Williston squad, the boys put together their best team effort of the season. Focusing on pack running, we were able to come across the finish line in clusters which allowed us to dominate the team score. Our varsity won 22-38 as we were led once again by Oliver Dreyfuss in 18:45. Oliver finished second overall, and close on his heels were co-captain Jude Celebi and Ali Griswold who each finished in 19:09. Their 3rd and 4th place finishes gave us a commanding lead. Then our second pack of Huck Griswold (19:14), Yura Stasiuk (19:22), and Rory McNamara (19:33) took 6th, 7th, and 8th place respectively to seal our victory. Co-Captain Will Roberts took 10th in 20:06 as we put all 7 of our varsity runners into the top 10 of the race. Not to be over-shadowed by the varsity’s great performance, the JV came through with a simply phenomenal race. Eleven of our 17 set personal records on the notoriously slow Williston course to win 18-39. In contrast, none of the varsity set PRs today. The first JV pack of Joseph Wang (20:30), Tate Celebi (20:31), Nick Shaker (20:32), and Nate Dexter (20:40) went 1, 2, 3, and 4 overall in the JV race to give us an insurmountable lead. Tate and Nick set PRs. Our next pair of Serafym Rybachkivskyi (21:17) and Augi Booth (21:18) took 8th and 9th to complete our victory. Serafym’s time was a PR. Trevor Stellmach took the final official JV spot with a personal best 21:38. The remaining runners displayed that they had fully learned the advantages of pack running. Rafe van Wegenen (21:49) and Jin Young Min (21:52) set personal records. The next pack consisted of EJ Rochester running his first ever 5k in 23:04. Hot on his heels were Khai Shulman (23:07), Ayden Cinel (23:08), and Jacob Ansari (23:10). Personal bests were set by Khai and Ayden. Ben Lam set a PR while leading our next pack in 23:32. Jed Spencer followed in 23:49, while Jonah Mehler had his best time ever in 23:53. Tonchok Dharnasarnsilp rounded out our team in 26:10.
