Loss 44-16
Facing some of the best competition in all of New England, the Boys took it on the chin. We lost to Loomis 16-44. However, an indication of just how strong our opponents were, 6 of our 7 varsity runners set personal records today. That shows we were running at our very best; we simply were outclassed. Oliver Dreyfuss led us for the second straight week with an 18:07. Rory McNamara catapulted into our second slot with nearly a 90-second improvement over last week to 18:38. Co-captain Jude Celebi placed third for us in 18:50. Ali Griswold, fighting off an ear infection took fourth in 19:00, edging out his brother Huck by just 12 seconds. Huck was more than a minute faster than last week. Co-captain Will Roberts came in with a 19:24, a 15-second improvement, and Joseph Wang rounded out the varsity with a 10-second improvement to 19:51. On the Junior Varsity side, we had much to be proud of. Despite falling short to Loomis by a score of 21-40, 12 of our 14 runners set personal records as we ran our fastest. Leading the way was Augi Booth. Augi’s 20:06 was the second best overall in the JV race and showed a 90-second improvement over a week ago. Second for us was Tate Celebi. His 21:12 was nearly a minute faster than a week ago. Nick Shaker came through with a 21:23. In a photo finish, Trevor Stellmach edged out teammate Serafym Rybachkivskyi as both finished in 21:47.
