Taft traveled to Greenwich this afternoon for a matchup against Sacred Heart. The visiting Rhinos adjusted well to the speed of the turf and played smart defensively, holding Sacred Heart scoreless in the first quarter. Half way through the second quarter, Taft earned their first penalty corner. A beautifully executed play put them on the board first, Emma Cook with an assist to Maisy Ricciardelli for the goal. Sacred Heart answered with two goals, putting the score at 2-1 heading into the half. The Rhinos came out strong in the second, Cal Ferraris finishing on a scramble in front of the net, evening the score at two. Sacred Heart answered with a score on a penalty corner before the third quarter ended. Taft continued to see opportunities in the fourth but could not convert. A broken play at midfield led to Sacred Heart’s final goal with less than three minutes to play. Chloe Agopian anchored the defense today for the Rhinos and Savoy McMahon notched 19 saves in net.
