Tie 2-2
The Berkshire Bears traveled to Watertown to face the Taft Rhinos on an overcast day with temperatures in the high 60’s. The delay caused by the PSATs meant that the game got underway slightly later than planned. The talented visiting team started the game strong pressing high and fast and earning most of the possession. The Rhinos rose to the challenge and on their first quality chance got the ball up on the left side of the pitch and the dancing feet of Will Franco drew a crowd and a subsequent foul in the box, which he finished with poise to give the lead to the home side in the 5th minute of play. A minute and a half later, the Bears equalized on a counter attacking play. Keeper Aiden Chan along with the back 4 of Scott Noh, Nero Muang, Andrew Jaroch, and Keyon’Dre Clark regrouped and worked hard to shut down the area from then on. The flow of the game was very even after that, with Taft getting forward pressure more often as the half wore on. Taft earned a spot kick in the 33rd minute and Sully Millington bent the ball beautifully over the wall and just under the bar for the 2-1 lead. Taft, knowing better than to rest on their laurels, played an inspired second half and earned scoring chances. At the same time, keeper Aiden Chan came up big with 9 saves on the day. Late in the second half, The Bears took advantage of a Rhino error and tied the score at 2. Despite pushing hard for the victory, the game ended at 2-2. This team is ready to host Trinity Pawling on Saturday as they feel they have a lot to prove.
