The Rhinos traveled to Deerfield today on a nice fall sunny day. The conditions were right to play some quality soccer. The visitors started off well earning the majority of possession and getting chances while the play of the back 4 of Jesse Brew, Nero Muang, Andrew Jaroch and Luke Smith looked solid and unbeatable. In the 16th minute, Taft got on the scoreboard with a spot kick from Sully Millington. The energy was high and the Green Doors had trouble handling the press from the visitors. Late in the second half Taft had a player sent off much to the joy of the home side. With the Rhinos reduced to 10 against a hungry home team, the outcome was not certain. Deerfield took advantage of the chaos and an unfortunate bounce to level the score at 1 a piece before the end of the half. While there were moments of a team destined for greatness and even holding a tie versus an uneven side, that was not to be today for Big Red. Deerfield put in 3 more in the second half including a penalty kick before being reduced to 8 on a second red card of the day. There were individual highlights on the day and a team that never quit despite the travel and the odds being against them. Greatness comes by taking care of the little things. When this team looks to trust each other, take responsibility for their effort and actions, and respect themselves and their opponent, they will be unstoppable.
