The Rhinos were tested early in the game by the dynamic Avon Old Farms offense, who put significant pressure on the Taft goalside. Thanks to crucial saves by Conrad Lynch and relentless efforts from the defensive line, much of the Winged Beavers’ onslaught was put on hold. About 20 minutes into play, an Avon player fell in the Taft penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick and Avon’s lone goal of the game. Taft did not back down on their mission, and attacked with newfound vigor in the game’s second half. Scott Noh nearly found the top corner of the net in a late game chance, and the Rhino defense, made up of Cayden Van Dolah, Kev Gunawan, Andrew Jaroch, Nero Maung, and Keyon’Dre Clark, repeatedly pushed up the field for counter attacks. Although Taft was not able to crack the Avon line, they look forward to a rematch with their perennial rivals in three weeks’ time.
