Taft took the field for the final game of the 2022 season at home against Choate. Mike Lorenzetti got the start for Taft, and he was dominant. The righty went 6.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 13. The defense was flawless and for 7 innings, and a first inning run was all Taft would need to secure the victory. In the first inning, Jon Chatfield hit a deep 1-out double, stole third base, and then scored on a passed ball after a Beck Milner walk. Mike Lorenzetti contributed 2 hits, Steve Mayer added a double and a stolen base, Ben D’Amico singled, and Milner added a hit, a walk, a stolen base, and a huge pick-off at second base to get Taft out of a 2nd inning bases loaded jam. Taft finishes 11-9 overall and 10-8 in league play.
