Final score Taft 2 - Choate 2. The Rhinos took on Choate at home in their third game of the season hungry for their first win of the season. The team started of strong, controlling the ball for most the of the first half, but unable to push into the opposing goal circle to secure a point. Defense stood strong, protecting the Taft goal with strong performances from Ellie Odero and Bella Dane. At the end of the first half, Harper Telles took the ball for a run up the left side of the field, pushing into the goal circle before taking a hard shot past the Choate goalie. In the second half, Taft also started off strong finally bringing their possession into the Choate goal circle and creating many scoring opportunities. One of which was capitalized on by Lucy Oliviero. Feeling confident up by 2 heading into he final quarter, Taft continued to fight. Choate got one point back, making the game 2-1 until very late in the game. With only 30 seconds remaining, Choate shot the ball into a Taft foot, leading to a penalty corner. With this corner, the clock ran out, but the game was not yet over. Choate went on to score 3 total corners in a row, finally capitalizing on their final one, and knocking the Rhino’s lead to a tie. The team is looking forward to their next match against Loomis Chaffee on October 1.
