Win 7-2
The Taft Thirds soccer team traveled down to Brunswick this afternoon for an afternoon tilt v the Bruins. Both teams played hard and pretty well on a lovely pitch in perfect weather. The Taft Rhinos came out on top seven two. Hurray! That is a lot of goals so I think I will describe the scoring in bulleted form. 5th minute - Oliver Pritchard took a corner from the right side. Jefferson Kao recovered a poor clearance and knocked in a 25-yard shot bar-down. Very nice! 10th minute - Jack Dodd took the ball down the left side past the B’wick defender to the endline then sent a lovely negative ball to Chris Joszczyk who calmly shot in a very nice twenty yarder. 11th minute - Same situation with Jack carrying the ball in deep and then crossing a negative ball to Miller Masterson for a nice left footed shot and goal. 18th minute - This time Jack took the shot that was saved by the B’wick ‘keeper but the rebound went directly to Oliver Eastman who placed in an easy shot for Taft’s fourth goal of the first half. That is where it ended, Taft up four nil. 50th minute - Miller placed in a nice 22 yarder from the top of the 18-yard box. I did not see who assisted as I was coaching a player on the bench. 58th minute - Brunswick tallied a goal on the counter-attack. 64th minute - Miller scored again with his left foot, a really nice goal too after working to gain space for a shot. 68th minute - Brunswick sent a long ball forward that was nicely trapped and tapped in for their second goal, though the goal-score was about two meters offside. Oh well 72nd minute - Andrew Jimenez scored his first goal of the season off assists from Leo Pineda and Oliver Pritchard. That’s where the scoring ended with Taft ahead seven-two. We then got on the bus and made it back to campus just in time for dinner. Angus Brown and Christian Barbuto both had nice minutes in the goal and many players played well today with Beau Woody, Hudson Deck, Carl Roux, Sky Comfort and Viktor Maag defending very well. Jack Dodd played very well up front with both good skill and very good speed. Truett Thomson earned good minutes, as well, on the outside. Our next match is this Saturday at Avon Old Farms at 2:30PM. This is always a tough, vigorous match so I’ll see you there!
