The Taft Rhinos traveled to face the Brunswick Bruins for the first tilt of the season. The short pitch with long grass favored the home team on this beautiful sunny day. The Rhinos started well and dominated many phases of the game from possession, shots, corners to speed of play. However, the home team was able to lead in the one category that counted most and that was goals having scored their goal in the 14th minute of the first half. The second half saw the Bruins fighting hard to hold onto the lead while Taft hit the post, the keeper and the wall instead of the back of the net. The frustrating day was not overshadowed by the talent and hard work that the Rhinos put forth on the opening day. There is no individual glory that needs mention as this team effort was strong and the goals clearly will start to flow. The Taft coaches are proud of their side and their strong work ethic. The support from the parents was appreciated. We look forward to facing Westminster away on Wednesday.
