Win 5-0
The Rhinos returned to their winning ways with a strong 5-0 victory at home against Cheshire Academy. The Big Red supporters were out in full force, as Taft played its first match under the new lights on campus. However, the visitors did not make things easy for Taft. Cheshire Academy was organized and compact defensively, and their goalkeeper made a number of spectacular saves in the opening minutes. Eventually, Taft broke through when Enoch Duodu squared the ball across the front of goal for Ben Osset, who found the back of the net to make the score 1-0. That was all Taft would get in the first half, however, and the game remained in the balance at half time. Early in the second half, Preston Alessio rattled the crossbar with a shot from just outside the penalty area, but Enoch Duodu was on the spot to hammer home the rebound. Then, Osset found his second goal of the game following an assist from Alessio. Myzel Pinsker then tallied his first goal of the season after Ale Gharzouzi found him with a clever pass behind the Cheshire defense. Gharzoui then scored a goal of his own after Sully Millington put forth a strong effort to get to the endline and play a pass in front of goal for Gharzouzi. Nathan Harlow and Conrad Lynch once again split minutes in goal to earn the shutout, while Sebastián Mejia-Rivera and Ebenezer Lamptey both turned in strong shifts on the defensive end. A number of younger Rhinos also played well in the match, as Lane Kierstead, Jack Collins, and Harrison DeStefano all looked confident playing in front of the large home crowd.
