Taft JV Boys Soccer took to the sunny hills of the Choate campus. Running on the vapors of a winning streak, the team poised themselves to run a clinic against the Wild Boars. Big Red started the game at an aggressive pace, with James Cooper connecting with Kotaro Wato for a goal before the second minute had elapsed. One minute later, Nero assisted Kayden for a goal, and Kotaro returned the favor to Cooper. After an overwhelming display of offensive pressure, play settled in. Julien Prentice made a key save at minute 20, and Camilo Pinto Gonzalez assisted Kayden for his second goal. The highlight of the half came from Liam Dhumale-Smyth, who chipped the ball with the outside of his foot just before it went out of bounds at net, and sent it curling right into the back of the onion bag.
Choate made some adjustments and caught Taft unaware for two goals of their own in the second half. In the 46th minute, Jack stopped a shot, but sent it back into the path of an attacker who finished the job. In the 58th, Choate made a cross into the box and scored a second goal. Taft put an end to these theatrics, scoring goals in the 69th, 72nd, and 75th minutes. Kotaro wowed the field with a highlight reel worthy backwards lobbing header, and Noah Cinel connected with Nero Maung in a picture-perfect set piece, chipping over the wall from thirty-five yards, where Nero made a run and downward header. Taft reestablished their dominance over the game after some breakdown in communication and showed their offensive creativity. The team appreciated Choate’s spirit and sportsmanship throughout the match, and they look forward to what may be their season closer against Loomis this weekend.
