Taft picks up its first victory of the season with a 21-0 victory over a tough and gritty Trinity-Pawling. HIGHLIGHTS Taft’s defense bent significantly but did not break on T-P’s first drive by forcing a turnover on downs on the Taft five-yard line. Pressure from Taft Co-captain, Gunnar Watson ‘24, Sam Lovell ‘24, and Josh Kuczynski ‘24 forced a hurried throw on fourth down—the 16th play of the drive. On the ensuing drive, Taft signal caller, Gilbert Kimrin ‘26, lead the offense on an 11-play 95-yard drive that culminated with Kimrin diving over the pylon to open the scoring. There were no third downs on the drive. Andre Crews ‘24 and Austin Tucker ‘25 pounded the Pride defense with hard running all evening. Tucker’s 23-yard run in the fourth quarter set up a Kimrin to Tyler Krasa ‘24 two-yard touchdown pass. Brady Winter ‘25 returned an interception 43 yards to cap the Taft scoring. Crews lead all rushers with 119 yards on 14 carries George Sullivan ‘25 averaged 47 yards on four punts and consistently flipped the field for the Taft defense. NOTES Today's contest was the 64th meeting between the teams. The last time Taft shut out Trinity-Pawling was a 7-0 win on the road in 1999. The last time Taft shut out Trinity-Pawling in Watertown was a 30-0 win in 1982 The Rhinos host Philips Exeter next Saturday, October 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
