Taft women’s soccer played a tough match against the Loomis Chaffee School on Saturday. Loomis scored twice in the first half, at minute 18 and again at minute 30. Ruth Amponsah ‘27 worked hard up top for the Rhinos and hit the crossbar on a shot at minute 31 and again went just wide at the 35 minute mark. Faith Graziano ‘24 shot a rocket into the keeper’s arms at minute 36 to close out the action of the first half. The Rhinos came out fighting in the second half. Rookie goalkeeper Esmee Clew-Bachrach ‘24 made an incredible save on a hectic corner kick 12 minutes into the second half. Ruth Amponsah ‘27 tucked a neat penalty kick in the right corner at 15 minutes to kill Loomis’ shut out; unfortunately, Loomis responded quickly with another goal seconds later. Loomis fought hard to the last second, tucking away one last goal with 2 seconds left on the clock for a final score of 4-1.
