Tie 1-1
Taft JV Soccer hosted Berkshire on a mild, breezy Saturday afternoon. A number of family and fans turned out to support the team, something the girls and coaches wholly appreciate. The game got off to a frantic start and Taft showed that they are a team still learning when they gave away a soft goal early on. However, their mental fortitude was once more in evidence when, just minutes later, they drew level with a neat finish from Lane Childs. Thereafter followed a fairly frantic half in which both teams struggled with their positioning and generating any real opportunities on goal. The second-half was a largely improved affair for Taft who were able to control the game a bit more with more considered teamwork and had the better of the chances. Several tight offside calls went against the team and a last-minute shot went wide but, ultimately, a draw was a fair result. Special mention to Libby Vermylen who put her body on the line with a last ditch tackle when Berkshire were clear of the rest of defense, and to Cece Chaterjee who worked tirelessly in midfield. Onto the next game and special thanks again to the family and fans who came out to support the team.
