On a cloudy and muggy day, the JV Girls Soccer team faced off against Loomis Chaffee at 3pm. The team came out strong, defending well and creating options. Unfortunately, Loomis was able to capitalize on playing at home and were able to score 3 goals in the first half. Despite this, the energy to continue playing hard and strong was maintained through the second half, where midfielders Karina Thomas and Ellie Taylor were able to shut down many opportunities. Additionally, defensive line players - Evangeline Webb, Jane Hempel, Dylan Carver, Caroline Bernard, Charlotte Van Ert, Emma Weitzel, Libby Vermlyen, and Madison Kirkland - held strong and worked in tandem to also block opportunities. While Loomis scored two goals in the second half, leaving the result of the game 5-0, goalies Nika Yemets and Mary Kidd Lindsey made multiple great saves, Yemets with 6 and Lindsey with 10. Even with multiple injuries on the bench, Taft worked hard for each other and is looking forward to welcoming Hopkins on October 5th at home.
