Taft wrestling began the season in fine form in today's quad meet. Our first opponent was the always strong Pomfret team. The starting weight class was 165, right in the heart of Pomfret's strength, and we quickly found ourselves down 17-nothing after 3 matches. However, Eli Reyes turned things around for us with a 39 second pin. Not to be outdone, tri-captain Chris Joszczyk pinned in 34 seconds. With forfeits then going to Ben Kaskin and Colton Bass, we had claimed a 24-17 lead. Keeping the momentum going our way, Anthony Joszczyk pinned in 1:11 giving us a 30-17 lead. One more pin for us would clinch the victory, but we got 3 more! Sean Noh, in his first ever match, came from behind to pin in 1:52. Tri-captain Jayden Piparo pinned in 1 minute exactly, and after we gave up a forfeit, Ryan Heintz pinned in 1:15 to give us a 48-23 victory.
