Westminster School scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Taft School Varsity Rhinos 11-3 on Wednesday. Westminster School got on the board in the top of the first inning with two runs. Taft responded in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own, taking advantage of a Westminster miscue. Westminster added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after a couple of hits from the top of the lineup. Closing the gap, Taft answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth after consecutive hits by Sadie Rothfleisch, Amy Goldthorpe, and Mia Pasquariello. Unfortunately, Westminster School scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning, taking the wind of the Rhinos. Emily Brownell handled the load in the circle for Taft . The starting pitcher allowed 14 hits and 11 runs ( only three earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking seven. Mia Pasquariello and Amy Goldthorpe were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Rhinos. Goldthorpe led Taft School Varsity Rhinos with two hits in three at bats. Westminster School accumulated 14 hits in the game while Taft only had six hits. Taft School Varsity Rhinos welcome Deerfield Academy on Saturday for their next game.
