Loss 2-4
NMH always really gets up to play us and this year was no exception. We knew they were going to be unpredictable and they certainly were. We scored right away with less than two minutes off the clock. Eva Baurmesiter had the ball at the top of the circle and she found Lily Senich cutting in from the right. Lily is great about playing with a low stick and she quickly picked up Eva’s pass and sent it to the far corner of the goal with a quick sweep. However, NMH got themselves on the board about 6 minutes later to even the game. Then NMH had the rest of the scoring in the first half and we went into the second half a little shell-shocked but also determined to even the score. Piper Forstyl made 9 saves in her second start on the season including a big save when the game was still 3-1 in the second half. We got back on the board with a fantastic effort by Olivia King who carried the ball into the circle scored off her own rebound with 20 minutes left in the game. We controlled much of the play for the rest of the game. Shots came from Eva Baurmeister (3), Abigail Hano (2), McKinley Karpa (2), Olivia King (4), Kaitlyn Macdonald (1) who made an incredible effort to score in the second half, Aisa Rupert (1), Caeley Smith (1) and Lily had 3 more shots. So it was clear that we were putting the offensive pressure on their goalie but luck was not in our favor. Piper did make an awesome glove save when the game was 2-3. We thought for sure we could even it and beat them in OT. However, on a quick breakaway, NMH scored with 3 minutes left and that really made if very hard to even the score despite dominating much of the game.
