Miss Porter's School
Win 6-0
After a challenging game and disappointing loss to GA on Wednesday, we bounced right back with a great win over Miss Porter’s School today. MPS jumped out quickly and had a couple chances on the net. Phoebe Autio made two saves, both came in the first half. We quickly regrouped and began to control the ball. We had some incredible passing combinations today and our forwards worked so hard in the circle. While Phoebe didn’t see the ball much, it was because our back line defense was outstanding. Amelia Allen played her best game of the season today. She made great tackles and used simple yet effective dodges to get the ball back up field on attack. As usual, Lauren Hoey and Corinna Dorr were aggressive and consistent and would not be beaten. Eva Baurmeister, Asia Rupert and Emma Hentemann created our scoring opportunities with their hard work in the midfield today. Our first goal game with about 10 minutes left in the half. Emma Hentemann (BIRTHDAY GIRL!!) carried the ball into the circle from the left and she found McKinley Karpa who was able to beat the goalie to get on the board for the first time. Our second goal came 7 minutes later when Liv Santini scored the first in her hat trick off an assist from McKinley. McKinley dug the ball off the endline and sent the ball up high in the circle. Liv was there and because this happened so fast the goalkeeper was out of position so Liv put the ball hard into the open net. A MPS defender was on the goal line and valiantly tried for a defensive save but Liv’s shot was too fast. Liv had her second 10 minutes into the second half when Eva brought the ball into circle and found Liv but the ball came to her left side so she quickly adjusted and scored with a reverse sweep. Liv’s hat trick was complete with a pass from Emma and then Liv was able to get her own rebound for goal number 4. Asis Rupert has been working on her offensive corner skills and after a flubbed corner in the first half she was ready to show her stuff. Eva inserted the ball up to her and she took a quick hard and accurate shot which flew in off a deflection from a defender's stick. The scoring was rounded out with a very quick drive from Marion at the top of the circle after she received a pass from Lily Senich who tallied her first assist on the season. Overall it was a great team effort. Kaitlyn Macdonald and Phoebe Cook both also came so close to scoring. Kaitlyn was able to get her stick on a couple of balls that crossed in front of the net and unfortunately they did not bounce her way but the effort was outstanding. Phoebe was all over the ball in the circle and she worked so hard to beat the goalie and she got off some solid shots. We have a well deserved long weekend and we will travel to Berkshire to take on the Bears Wednesday afternoon.
