Loss 0-2
After our huge OT win over Ethel Walker’s on Wednesday, we came out a little flat against Kent. We knew what we were up against. They were going to be fast and aggressive and we needed to stay tough and strong. The game was very evenly matched. It was the top two teams in the Founders League and arguably two of the top teams in Western New England. Both teams had 2 corners apiece and Phoebe had 4 saves to the Kent goalie’s one save. It was a game played mostly in the midfield. Kent pressed us very hard and it was hard for us to generate much offense under the pressure. Kent scored in the first half on a play we expected to hear a whistle on. It didn’t go our way and Kent was able to pick up a loose ball to beat Phoebe before she had time to set. We didn’t back down but continued to work hard to score. Kent got the insurance goal with about 15 minutes left in the game when their captain and very fast forward beat our last defender and was able to hit the opposite side of the net. It was the type of game that easily could have gone the other way on another day. We did raise over $400 for breast cancer research so thank you to the players, parents, and fans who helped make the bake sale and fundraiser a huge success!!
