Win 3-0
Taft triumphs over Loomis. Goalie Emily Riccardi earned her second shut-out of the season with a well fought victory over a tenacious Loomis squad. Scoring started early with Annelise Pizzitola tapping in a rebound off the pads of the talented Pelican keeper. From there, the Rhinos kept the shots coming, tallying 14 on the day. Perry Allen was instrumental in creating many of these opportunities carrying the ball from the midfield and feeding it with great precision to her teammates. It was off one of these passes that Lulu Brauer scored the second goal, a beautiful crossing shot that beat the keeper stick side. Brauer almost contributed another goal, however, it was called back. Nonetheless, her perfectly timed top-shelf flick was a sight to see! Martha Lohuis, Michelle Tetro, Lulu Bradley and Liz Carlson dominated the midfield holding Loomis to the 50 yard line for most of the game. In the second half, the Rhinos continued to have control of the momentum with Loomis breaking into the defensive zone just once. The brick wall of Riccardi, Cole, Yow, Salnikoff and Peverly thwarted the Pelican's corner attempt and swiftly returned the ball to the other end of the field. It was there that the match ended on a beautiful goal from Julia Kunzelmann whose tenacious stick and excellent footwork gained her an step on her Loomis defender and a well-aimed shot. The Rhinos will face the Gators of Greenwich Academy this Wednesday at home for what will be a fast-paced and exciting game. Go Big Red!
