Loss 3-4
Taft suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, falling to a talented Loomis team. Loomis took an early lead when their striker found the back of the net in the 6th minute. Taft answered a few moments later when Sammed Bawa was taken down inside the Loomis penalty area and Marvin Sibanda converted the spot kick. Unfortunately for The Big Red, Loomis converted a penalty kick of their own in the 13th minute to regain the lead. The rest of the first half was full of action, but it did not produce another goal, and Loomis took a slim lead into halftime. In the 63rd minute, Loomis doubled their lead, but again Taft answered when Sammed Bawa found the back of the net after a good cross from Cole Torino. As Taft pressed to tie the game, Loomis scored to take a 4-2 advantage. However, there was no quit in the Rhinos, as Bawa headed home a service from Sibanda to pull within a goal. The final minutes were frantic, but Loomis defended well and emerged with a 4-3 victory. It was a thrilling match between two top teams. Taft now has a week to prepare for a trip to Lakeville and a critical match against their rivals, Hotchkiss.
