Kingswood Oxford School
Win 6-0
Taft earned its second straight shutout, defeating Kingswood-Oxford by a score of 6-0 on a rare Monday afternoon match. Post-graduate Gabe Eliasson put the Rhinos in front early when he collected a corner kick from Sammed Bawa and smashed it into the back of the net in the third minute of the match. Bawa doubled the lead thirteen minutes later with an outstanding free kick from distance. Kingswood-Oxford remained organized and determined on defense and was almost able to keep the Taft offense in check for the remainder of the half. However, Bawa got loose on the flank and squared a ball across the top of the Kingswood penalty area for Jackson Lardner. Lardner took a touch and drilled a low shot into the corner of the net, giving Taft a three-goal advantage heading into half time. In the second half, the Rhinos tallied three more goals, as Aaron Skeene, Mthabisi Tshuma, and Peter Horne all found the back of the net for The Big Red. Dan Yen and Carter Veley were particularly dangerous on the wings for Taft, while Rex Riefler and Marvin Sibanda did well to control the middle of the park. Goalkeeper Shayan Karimi earned his sixth shutout of the season and was protected well by the back four of Eliasson, Dylan Powell, Jordan Miller, and Ethan Hindle. Charlie Werner and Diky Izmirlian also turned in good performances on the defensive end. With the win, Taft improved to 9-1 on the season, and the Rhinos are right back in action at Canterbury on Wednesday for their second road game in three days.
