Loss 1-2
On a chilly, rainy Wednesday afternoon, your Taft JV boys soccer team lost a tough match to a determined Choate side two one. Taft opened the scoring in the thirteenth minute as Mayan Ewert sent a long ball into the right corner where Alex Brown beat Choate's left back and crossed the ball to Joel Edholm who put the ball past the Choate keeper. This early goal really got Choate's dander up and they evened the score in the twenty fourth minute due to Taft's failure to clear the ball our of the 18-yard box despite a few opportunities to do just that. The first half ended at one-one. Both teams were determined to win this match and therefore really invested some energy into attempts to score the go-ahead goal. Taft hit the post and the Choate goalkeeper a few times but couldn't get a shot over the goal line inside the frame. Choate finally earned their second goal of the matchin the sixty first minute on a short cross and bury off a counter attack off of a Taft corner kick, alas. Our lads in red really stepped it up at this point but could not get a shot into the Choate net and in fact the whistle blew with Taft setting up a free kick from about forty yards out. Oh well, better and more effective effort next time. Two matches on the next two Saturdays for our lads, this Saturday hosting Loomis and the following Saturday at Hotchkiss. We hope to see you out there supporting the team!
