Loss 1-3
Taft hosted Choate for their first home game in the past four matches. Taft would play 79 minutes of their best soccer of the season yet lose focus for one minute over the course of the match that led to goal-scoring opportunities Choate would not waste and the visitors earned a 3-1 victory over Taft. Choate would convert two of their first half corners when they purely beat the Taft defenders to the ball. In what boils down to effort plays, Choate wanted it just a little bit more. Taft won more goal kicks and punts than any other game this season and were able to battle and generate opportunities against the Wild Boars. Kristin Manfreda ’18 would score Taft’s only goal of the day when a long-distance bid took a deflection on the way to net and beat the Choate keeper. Manfreda and other central players Eveliina Kuitunen ’20, Kayla Thomas ’20, Leigh Sharpless ’18, and Amanda Graziano ’21 played their best game of the season stringing together the wings and bridging the backs and strikers very well against an organized Choate defense. Taft played well enough to earn a result for 79 minutes but the lack of full attention during set pieces doomed Taft’s effort on the day. Taft will look to rebound when the travel to Williston Northampton on Wednesday. Kickoff will be at 3:00pm.
