Taft started off very strong capturing 3 straight sets off of Nobles. Everyone on the team was able to contribute to the win and the victory put us in the right mental state to prepare for our battle against Choate. Our matches against Choate always prove to be exciting and close, but last night was special. Taft wore their pink uniforms, played in honor of breast cancer survivors or in memory of women who lost their personal battles. The dining Hall donated 300 pink cupcakes and the team raised money for cancer research by having the fans serve balls trying to hit T-Shirts on the other side of the court. If the participants hit the "Our House, Our Time" T-Shirt, they got to take it as a "give away"! This activity created excitement and was tons of fun for our very energetic fans. It also allowed the fans to experience firsthand the difficulty of executing a perfect serve! A highlight was seeing non-starters enter the game under intense pressure situations and perform to the highest level. Some names that deserve special shout outs are: Olivia Wivestad, Avery Comish, Finley Delafield, Zoe Kemper, and Francesca Nyakora. These players helped slow down the tempo of the game, made unbelievable defensive saves, and served unreturnable balls. Their contributions were very valuable and changed the momentum of the game, keeping the scores close. Over the course of the night and seven volleyball sets later, serving highlights would include: Osi Bialunska, 33 service points; Anna Csigirinszkij, 29 service points; Elizabeth Baratta, 27 service points; Addie Delafield, 19 service points; Coco Hardy, 17 service points and Olivia Wivestad, 9 service points. Anna Volentics and Kayla Robinson contributed with outstanding net play. Attack Highlights include: Kaia Whiteley, 19 kills; Osi Biasunka, 19 kills, and Addie Delafield, 18 kills. Emily Hardy, our setter, deserves much credit for the hitters success. Next up, Wednesday at Miss Porter's, 2:15.
