Loss 0-3
Taft 0 Loomis 3 Set 1 23-25 Set 2 22-25 Set 3 21-25 Sadly, our wonderful season came to a close today with a loss to Loomis in the 1/4 finals of the New England Tournament. We ended the 2017 season with a high ranking. We were honored with the 4th seed in New England Tournament. Our final 14-5 record shows we were a very formidable team. Tonight, after the game in our locker room, we shared personal accounts of just how much we cared for each other. One by one the students left and I was the last one to leave the gym. Quietly, and alone, I slowly turn off the gym lights for the last time of our season. This action reminded me of a player from the 1980's who wrote her college essay on her final high school volleyball game. The opening line went something like this..... "The lights of score board went out". I wish I could have changed the outcome then and I wish I could have changed the final outcome today, but I would not have changed anything else about this season. This team was SPECIAL. All I can say is a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to the captains, the players, the managers, my assistant coach, the parents, and fans... win or lose you made Taft Volleyball the ultimate winner. A special "Thank You" to my husband and children for allowing me to be a wife, mother and coach!
