Boys' Soccer - III
Overview
Overview
The Taft boys’ thirds soccer team is built around two goals: winning as many matches as possible and developing a deep respect for the beautiful game of soccer. As part of the latter goal, we play in the classy manner of all Taft student-athletes.
Coach Lehner and Coach Rosario believe that all Taft thirds players should possess both skill and fitness. Therefore, all thirds practices involve diligent work on the fundamentals of soccer and cardiovascular health. Players use this skill and fitness in small tactical drills that build to a full field strategy of complete team play that will allow our lads in red and white to triumph on our own field as well as the various fields that we visit in our group of schools. We strive to make every activity we engage in fun. As coaches, we firmly believe that if what you are doing is not fun, it is not worth doing. Boys’ thirds soccer revolves around building skill, fitness and tactics, team play, and respect for soccer, the greatest game on the planet.

About Head Coach Samuel Rosario
Samuel graduated from Bowdoin College with a BA in both Asian studies and Government and Legal Studies. His previous experience includes lifelong mentoring of new college students transitioning from high school. This true New Yorker worked as a tour guide of Native American culture at the world-renowned American Museum of Natural History and helped educate students of all ages. While accumulating academic achievements at Bowdoin, Samuel would find respite in the studio as captain of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu team or the college dining hall where he improved his recipe book. Samuel also earned his Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed) from the University of Pennsylvania which culminated in a research project examining student-centered learning and the further development of student empathy. While trying to avoid his favorite treat—Devil Dogs, Samuel will be burning calories as Head coach for the boys’ Thirds soccer and Head coach for the boys’ Thirds basketball teams while reflecting with young leaders in HDT3.
