About Head Coach Ryan Gemmell

While attending Central Connecticut State University, Ryan began coaching football at Southington High School, then Avon Old Farms. After graduating with a degree in mathematics, he began teaching algebra 1 and geometry at AOF, as well as coaching football, wrestling, and lacrosse. Ryan earned his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport in elementary education, where he then spent four years teaching at The Independent Day School in Middlefield, Connecticut. While at IDS, Ryan taught algebra 1, geometry, science, and digital arts & science. In addition to teaching, he enjoyed being an advisor, coaching basketball, and working with facilities during the summer. At Taft, Ryan teaches math, coaches football, and lives in HDT.
