Squash - Boys' JV
Overview
Overview
The boys' junior varsity squash team has traditionally been a deep, winning team, emphasizing competitive play and solid sportsmanship. JV players come with a variety of squash experience, some with years, and others with a year or two on JV or thirds. For the past decade the boys’ JV squash team has produced a winning record, including 4 recent wins over another squash heavyweight, Brunswick. Based upon our record and recent performance, US Squash allowed our JV team to enter this year's Nationals Tournament, and this February we traveled to Wesleyan University to play in Division 5 (out of 7). We won three matches and ended up co-champions (with St. Andrews) of Division 5!

About Head Coach Andy Taylor '72
Andy’s squash career began as a member of Taft’s first interscholastic squash team (hardball in those days) back in 1971 and 1972. Andy went on to become captain and No. 1 at Wesleyan University. After graduation, Andy continued to play squash (softball) overseas. He captained the Botswana national team (1980–84) which played against such unheralded squash powers as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Swaziland (now Eswatini). When Andy returned to the United States from Botswana in 1984, the international softball game was just beginning to replace the American hardball version. Taking advantage of this fact, Andy reached No. 1 in the U.S. Men’s 35-plus rankings, and then slipped to No. 3 in the Men’s 45-plus rankings. Andy is delighted to be the coach of the JV boys’ squash team.
