At UTPA he graduated summa cum laude with a double major in physics and mathematics then went on to earn his masters degree in physics at NMSU specializing in the field of general relativity. For the past 10 years, he has worked and lived in Beijing at the Beijing National Day School teaching courses in both physics and mathematics. He taught AP Physics C and AP Calculus. He developed and taught post AP curriculum in both departments, writing courses in modern physics, astrophysics, ordinary and partial differential equations. He was also the head boys' varsity basketball coach at BNDS winning conference titles for nine consecutive years. At Taft, he will be teaching courses in both the mathematics and physics departments as well coaching the math team and boys' fourths basketball.
