John graduated from the Berkshire School and went on to attend Dartmouth College. After that, he earned a master’s degree in English from Middlebury College. He taught for 10 years at the Lawrenceville School, where he was a housemaster, assistant director of admission, and member of the English department. He also coached football, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Between his time at Lawrenceville and Taft, John worked in New York and London in the financial market. At Taft, John teaches English (including senior electives in tragedy and the Southern tradition) and advises the school newspaper, The Papyrus. He lives in Bethlehem with his wife, Susie. They have four grown daughters and nine grandchildren.
