Susan attended Lynn English High School in Massachusetts and then received a bachelor of arts in mathematics from Bowdoin College. After graduation, Susan joined the faculty at Taft in 1981 and completed a master of arts in liberal studies in mathematics at Wesleyan in 1990. For over four decades, Susan has served in a variety of positions; head varsity squash and tennis coach, dormitory faculty, and senior class dean. In her many years teaching at Taft, she has taught algebra at the introductory through honors levels, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and honors statistics. Susan’s husband, Steve, is also a longtime teacher in the mathematics department at Taft, and they live in a house near campus. Their three children, Kara, Katie, and Michael, are all graduates of Taft.
